Pesky Potholes

Living in the Pacific Northwest, we’re all likely accustomed to the thrill of driving with potholes in our roads and highways. These unsightly holes are typically a result of weather damage–specifically rain.
Potholes in Road
When it rains heavily, the water seeps into the cracks of the pavement. When said water freezes, it expands and contracts which causes small fractures. Repeated driving over the fractured pavement will eventually create a dreaded, pesky pothole.
When you see a pothole, or even a puddle of standing water, you should try to avoid it if you can do so safely. Slow down and leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead of you. This will allow you to scan the road to keep an eye out for any upcoming potholes.
Some motorists experience immediate damage when they hit an unavoidable pothole; while other vehicles can accumulate damage over time. The most common issues caused by hitting a pothole are a bent rim, internal tire damage, steering and suspension problems, and even exhaust issues.
Since damage done to your vehicle by potholes can worsen over time, don’t wait to get it looked at! If you are noticing any concerns, schedule an appointment today.
Luckily, Jaguar Land Rover is researching a new technology that can detect potholes. Visit their website for the details of this upcoming feature!
